Bulkington Concert
2nd October 2004

Warm up those dodgy bits
When 40 members of FCSC turned up at St James Church, Bulkington for a pre-concert warm-up and review of some of the more 'dodgy' bits, little did we know that we would be singing continuously for nearly 3 and a half hours.

Cross your legs
In order to fit in the cheese and wine and raffle we had to ensure the concert finished at a reasonable time - hence, no interval. This combined with the fact that the nearest toilets were some 200 yards away, there were some pretty desparate people at the conclusion of the concert. If you weren't gasping for a drink, you had your legs crossed and you were desparate for 'the other' !!
The programme consisted of excerpts from our forthcoming concert 'Elijah' (see programme), lighter pieces (including Cantique de Jean Racine, Deep Peace), amusing pieces, a medley of Beatles songs and some spiritual pieces.

Hard work pays off
With piano solo pieces from our resident pianist, a tenor duet and a four part choral quartet, the evening was a successful tribute to the hard work put in by the organiser (pictured right). Members of the audience were sufficiently impressed that several made a point of expressing their congratulations to members of the choir for a most enjoyable concert.

You can't keep a good man down! Not withstanding all his hard work on the day and, oblivious to a long drive home, our Director of Music and Conductor, could not resist a quick tinkle on the ivories of the pipe organ at St James.
