A Terrific Evening of Choral Music
Did you attend our recent Haydn Concert? If you did you will know what a terrific evening it was. If you missed it, we're sorry not to have seen you there. In either case read our report and catch up on the latest from Finham Choral Society, Coventry.

Haydn's Little Organ Mass and Mozart flute Concerto
On Saturday 15th. November the Society arranged a concert at Earlsdon Methodist Church. The programme consisted of music by Haydn and Mozart. The first half of the concert offered the choir, a small instrumental ensemble and organ, played by David Baxter, all under the baton of Ladi Merriman-Johnson, the Musical Director, performing Haydn's Kleine "Orgelmesse" (Little Organ Mass). This was followed by two movements of Mozart's Concerto for flute in G. The solo flute was played by Catharine Wheble who was accompanied on the piano by the experienced Pamela Greenway.

Mass in the Time of War
After the interval the choir, an orchestra and organ, once more played by David Baxter, performed Haydn's "Paukenmesse" (Mass in the Time of War). This work requires four soloists and the Society were fortunate in obtaining the services of Penny King - Soprano, Josephine Mesa Bandres - Alto, Peter Wheble - Tenor and Jerzy Nagorski - Bass.

The whole ensemble was conducted once more by Ladi.

The event was enjoyed in a very pleasant atmosphere by a near capacity audience. Instrumentalists, soloists, choir and conductor were on good form, and performances were well received by the audience, who showed their appreciation of a fine evening of music.
