Inspirational
On Saturday 21st September 2002, Finham Choral Society invited friends and music lovers to join them in an afternoon studying and singing Mozart's Requiem. And so it was, that eighty enthusiastic singers varying in confidence and expertise arrived at St Martin in the Fields Church, Finham. Our inspirational leader and 'encourager' was Colin Touchin, Director of Music at Warwick University, and his patient accompanist Jim Markham.
Warm Up
First though, "Let's get fit for singing" - with enjoyable breathing and singing excercises helping us to feel united as a group and ready for 'work'.
Together for long?
The expertise of Colin and his love for the music inspired us all to give of our best. As the afternoon continued our musical renderings surprised even ourselves, and we sounded like a choir who had been singing together for some time.
Well earned rest
After a break, when we had time to chat, renew friendships and make new ones, we returned to sing excerpts of Mozart's Requiem with confidence.
Repeat performance?
A most enjoyable day, which we hope to repeat in the future. We will sing the complete Mozart Requiem at Princethorpe on 9th November 2002. Please join us.
