Singing with Finham Choral Society, Coventry

The Choir meets to rehearse every Wednesday from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. from September to July in St. Martins in the Field Church, Green Lane Coventry.

Our repertoire covers music from early to the present day – sacred and secular. It includes large-scale works like Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Hymn of Praise, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rossini’s Petite Messe Sollenele, Handel’s Messiah and Chandos Anthems, Masses by composers like Schubert, Haydn, – to name a few. Concerts are given mainly in Churches but other venues are used.

The Choir has a basic programme of about three major concerts each year but there are always extra events. The choir does a great deal of charity concerts to help local, national and international events such as the Tsunami disaster charity concert and the Weston-Super-mere RNLI Lifeboat Appeal. Five to six concerts in a year is not unusual. To qualify to sing in a concert members must have attended at least two-thirds of the rehearsals for that concert.

In order to join, there are NO AUDITIONS, but a commitment

  • to the choir and choir life
  • to disciplined and good singing
  • to learning

is all that is required.

The choir also organises social events for its members, members’ families and friends

The subscription is £8.00 per month or £96.00 per year (although difficulty with this would be viewed sympathetically). Music can be bought through the Choir if desirable and hire copies are often available for a nominal fee.

For more information or to join the choir, contact the Choir Secretary via this web site, any member of the choir, or just attend rehearsal at any point during the year.
