The Beginning ...

An early programme for a Christmas Concert at Finham Park School. Note the entrance price of 60 pence!. The concert consisted of Zadoc the Priest, Ave Verum, various carols and pieces by soloists drawn from the schools pupils at the time.

The school orchestra, choir string group and jazz group were conducted by B. Todd; Brass ensemble by B.Chappell; Folk Group by M.Allen and the Wind band by M.Rowson.

At the time Finham Choral Society were very much part of the school 'scene' and got no specific mention in their own right.

This concert probably marked what was the embryonic stage of the formation of Finham Choral Society, Coventry.

This page also shows a couple of programmes from what is thought to be the years 1980 and 1981. The choir that sang Gloria was not referred to in the programme but in the Creation programme was credited to be 'Finham Park School Choir'.

Conductor for the choir in both instances was K.Sedgebeer. In addition there were three conductors mentioned in both programmes: M.Rowson, B.Chappell, M.Gatward

Between them they conducted the Senior String Ensemble, The Brass Ensemble, The School Orchestra, the Senior Woodwind Quintet and the Wind Band. The Corelli Orchestra accompanied the choir on both occassions. Their leader was M.Gatward.
