Two programmes from around 1983. An Evening of Music was presented by Finham Choral Society on January 15 1983. The venue - Holy Trinity Church, Broadgate, Coventry.
The title page boasts "Finham Choral Society and Friends". It appears 'the friends' were the Albany Duo and Classic Brass Ensemble.
The evening included Vivaldi - Gloria, extracts from Handel's Messiah and other short pieces. While the 'friends' renditions included Tango in D - Albeniz, Canzon Bergamasque - Scheidt.
An Evening of Music and Carols is undated but was predominantly a presentation by Finham Park Comprehensive School where Finham Park Choral Society provided some carols and solid base to carols for audience participation.
It seems at this time FCSC had not really found its own feet and was content to support rather than lead the occasion.
'Evenings of Music and Carols' were 'de rigueur' in those early days. Several examples of such programmes can be found. Perhaps it was time for Finham Park Choral Society to break out of the mould!
